3 weeks.

I can't believe my baby is already three weeks old.

Enjoy.

Faces.

Jovie has so many faces at nearly 3 weeks old (2 weeks, 6 days to be exact).  These are just a few.

This is her hungry face.

Naturally, then...what follows is her gassy face.  I admit she looks concerned, too.

Now she's just being cute.

Curious.

I'd like to think this is her giving me attitude...but truly, it's just Jovie being hungry again.

Bored.

And sleepy.

  

But this is the best - her smile (or silent laughter) ...in stages :)

             She certainly has more - like fussy, scared, and sad.  I'm glad I didn't see those this time...but...another day, another post.

           

Two weeks.

My baby is two weeks old today and I love her more and more each day!

As you might have heard, Jovie was born at 8 lbs. 15 oz.  Since I had a c-section, and because you are given so many fluids, doctors have told me her real weight would have been around 8 lbs 8 oz.

Jovie was also about a week and a half early.  In the end, I was having a hard time feeding her on my own and she actually dropped to 7 lbs 9 oz.  I ended up having to supplement, and now, two weeks later, I can feed her on my own.

At today's appointment Jovie was back up to 8 lbs. 8 oz and all looks good :)

Other than that, I've noticed she's been smiling a lot more lately, though I'm not sure she knows why she's smiling.  That's okay though.  Just seeing her smile makes me forget how tired I've been!

And on that note...I'm going to take a quick nap before she wakes up.

Happy two weeks to my Jovie!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the best husband and father there is!  

Plus... Happy Father's Day to my own dad and first time grandpa!  Jovie is so lucky and so am I!

Newborn Shoot, Part I

Six days old

Today was a day full of taking pictures of Jovie, who is now six days old.  But...these days when am I not doing that?  My friend, Melanie, is a photographer here in the Treasure Valley and is helping me do a newborn shoot with my girl and teaching me a few things in the process so hopefully I can start doing some soon.

It's going to be Jovie overload over the next couple of weeks because this was just from part I of the shoot!

Jovie was a pretty good little model, except she did pee all over Rhett!

5 days old

My little bug is five days old.  So far so good.

You know, I thought I was a worrier while I was pregnant...but take my worry during pregnancy and times it by 5 as a mom.  For instance, Jovie was born practically nine pounds.  Over the past couple of days she's lost a pound and a half!  It was heartbreaking trying to get her to eat and I was so worried about her weight..but today I think we've fixed the problem.  I'm supplementing with formula and it seems she is sleeping better with a full tummy now.

Here's to more mommy worries in the years to come.  She's so worth it!

Jovie is here!

My beautiful baby has finally arrived.  She was early...but boy, did it feel like I was going to have to wait forever!  Jovie was born June 6th and weighed 8 lbs 15 oz.

I love her so, so much!

And you know who else loves her??  Well, of course Rhett and me...but her grandma does too!

My mom will be here for a couple weeks helping us in taking care of her and so I wanted to take a few pictures of them together.  

My mom is smitten and so is Jovie!  

As for me, be ready for plenty of Jovie pictures.  I'm still recovering from surgery, but I'll do my best to keep updating this blog with pictures of my little one!
